Parsley Grune Perle Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Parsley ‘Grüne Perle’ (Petroselinum crispum) is an exceptional curly leaf variety prized for its dense, finely serrated foliage and rich, aromatic flavour.

This compact, bushy parsley produces deep green, tightly curled leaves that retain their fresh taste and crisp texture for an extended period, making it a superb choice for culinary use. Ideal for garnishing, salads, soups, and sauces, it brings both beauty and flavour to the kitchen.

With strong regrowth after cutting, this robust variety ensures a continuous supply of fresh parsley throughout the growing season. Highly adaptable, ‘Grüne Perle’ thrives in garden beds, herb borders, and containers, making it a versatile choice for all gardeners. It is a cold-tolerant, biennial herb often grown as an annual, providing flavourful harvests from early summer through winter in milder climates.

Rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as antioxidants, parsley is not only a staple ingredient but also a valuable addition to a healthy diet. Its dense growth habit makes it resistant to bolting, ensuring prolonged leaf production compared to other curly leaf varieties.

For an early start, sow seeds indoors from February to April in seed trays or small pots filled with fine compost. Cover seeds lightly with compost, water gently, and keep at a temperature of 15-20°C. Germination can be slow; soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing may speed up the process. Once seedlings are large enough, transplant them into pots or outdoor beds.

Direct sow from April to August in a well-prepared, moist seedbed. Sow seeds thinly, 1 cm deep, and 15 cm apart in rows spaced 30 cm apart. Keep the soil moist, and thin seedlings as necessary. Regular harvesting encourages fresh, bushy growth.

Parsley ‘Grüne Perle’ is a must-have for any herb garden, offering a steady supply of fresh, flavourful leaves. Its attractive, dense foliage and exceptional taste make it a top choice for both home cooks and gardeners.
