Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds in pots or modules filled with moist well drained compost and lightly cover with soil. Maintain a temperature of 18 to 24°C. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after the last frost spacing 30 to 45 cm apart. For direct sowing place seeds 1 to 2 cm deep once the soil has warmed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water regularly during dry spells and feed occasionally to support strong growth. Provide shelter from strong winds if growing in exposed sites. Leave seed heads standing into winter to feed birds and add seasonal interest. Black Millet thrives in sunny borders prairie plantings and wildlife friendly schemes.
