Sowing Instructions

 

For indoor sowing, start seeds from February to May. Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours to improve germination. Sow seeds individually into pots or trays filled with moist, well-drained compost. Cover seeds lightly with compost and place in a propagator or a warm, bright location, maintaining a temperature of 15-20°C. Germination can take 14-28 days.

 

For outdoor sowing, plant seeds directly into their final position from May to July. Prepare the soil by removing weeds and raking to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly and cover lightly with soil. Keep the soil moist until seedlings emerge. Once seedlings are established, thin them to allow 30-45 cm spacing.

 

Lupin Russell Mix thrives in full sun or partial shade and requires regular watering during dry periods. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage a second flush of blooms, extending the flowering period. These hardy perennials may need staking in windy areas to support their tall flower spikes.
