Lupins form clumps of palmate green foliage and blooms from early summer, adding vertical interest and vibrant colour to borders and cottage style planting.

 

This hardy perennial thrives in full sun and well drained soil and is perfect for low maintenance gardens, pollinator habitats, and naturalistic schemes.

Sowing Instructions

 

Soak seeds overnight before sowing to improve germination. Sow 5 mm deep in trays or modules and keep at 18 to 22°C until seedlings appear. Transplant into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant outdoors after the last frost. Space plants 40 to 50 cm apart. For best results, sow in spring for flowering the following year.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water during dry spells and avoid overfeeding. Deadhead to prolong flowering or allow to self-seed lightly. Suitable for borders, cottage gardens, and cutting. Cut back after flowering or leave seed heads for architectural interest. Protect young plants from slugs and snails.
