Lettuce Parris Island Cos ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This heirloom cos type lettuce has dark green crinkled leaves with a dense crispy creamy white heart and a sweet flavour sow little and often for a continuous crop.

A good bolt and disease resistant variety.

Sow March - July

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam or sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest May - October

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrot and radish

Do not plant with cabbage

Cut the lettuce when they are large enough

A good source of vitamin A

Use in Salad and sandwiches

Make successional sowings into fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of fresh lettuce throughout the summer.

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Keep well watered during dry spells grow on in containers on a patio.

Sow thinly indoors between March - April in seed trays planting out in April spacing the plants 15cm apart.

Sow thinly outdoors April - July in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
