Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors: Sow from February to April in trays or modules of fine seed compost. Cover seeds lightly and keep moist at 15–18°C. Transplant young plants once large enough to handle, spacing 20 cm apart.

 

Outdoors: Sow direct from March to August in shallow drills 1 cm deep, spaced 20–25 cm apart. Thin seedlings as they grow to allow healthy, compact heads to form. For continuous harvests, sow little and often every 2–3 weeks.

 

Harvest when heads are firm and compact, or pick outer leaves for cut-and-come-again use.
