Lettuce Iceberg Roxette ORGANIC Seeds

Iceberg Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) 'Roxette' is a bolt-resistant high yielding variety known for its medium sized  firm, dark green heads. It is well-suited for early summer and summer cultivation.

 

The sweet crispy leaves make it ideal for mixed salads and sandwiches.

Sowing Period: February- June 

Germination: 7 – 14 days.

Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil; slightly acidic to neutral pH.

Height: Medium-sized heads.

Harvesting: Early summer and summer.

Companion Plants: Beets, Brassicas, Carrot, Celery, Chervil, Cucumbers, Dill, Garlic, Onions, Radish, Spinach, Squash, Strawberries.

Avoid Planting With: Other lettuce varieties to prevent cross-pollination.

 

Sowing Instructions:

 

Indoors:

Sow seed between February - April in seed trays or pots filled with moist well drained compost. Lightly cover the seeds with compost and maintain a temperature of 15–20°C. Once seedlings are large enough to handle and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them into the garden or containers.

 

Outdoors: Sow directly between April - June into prepared soil. Ensure the seeds are lightly pressed into the soil and keep moist until germination occurs. Thin out seedlings to ensure adequate space for each plant to grow.

 

To encourage continuous leaf production, harvest leaves regularly. Iceberg Lettuce benefits from consistent watering but does not thrive in waterlogged soil. Ideal for gardeners seeking a crisp, low-maintenance plant that provides long-lasting harvests and enhances culinary dishes.
