Lettuce Iceberg Great Lakes 118 Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This reliable variety of lettuce has large firm sweet and crispy medium sized heads with dark green loose crinkly leaves.

It is an excellent variety that is heat and bolt resistant.

Sow March - July

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or acidic

Harvest June - October

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish

Do not plant with cabbage

Pick the lettuce when they are of a decent size

Use in Salads and sandwiches

Make small successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of lettuce throughout the summer months.

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil keep.

Keep well watered during dry spells.

Sow outside from late March - August in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows. When the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
