Description

Lettuce Collection Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A collection of three different varieties of lettuce providing a great mix of colour, texture and flavour.

Use for mixed salads, sandwiches or garnish.

All these lettuce are suitable for growing in pots and containers.

Salad Bowl Red - a fast growing lettuce with red cut and come again leaves with serrated edges. Pick the leaves over a long period of time.

Salad Leaf Fancy Mix - a mix of different varieties of leaves and Endives pick little and often.

Mixed lettuce - a gret mix of different varieties of lettuce offering a range of texture, flavor and colours.

Sow February - July

Germination 7 - 14 days

Loam - sandy soil that's alkaline or neutral

Harvest May - October

Companion Plants Beetroot, beans, carrots and radish.

A good source of vitamin A

Use in Salads, sandwiches or as a garnish

Make small successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of leaves throughout the summer months.

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Keep well watered during dry spells, it can be grown on the windowsill or in containers on the patio.

Sow indoors between February - March in seed trays or modules when the seedlings are large enough to handle pot into individual pots or tray spacing 5cm apart.

Gradually harden the plants off be planting out.

Alternatively sow outside between April - July in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm - 20cm between rows.
