Large Spike Bristlegrass is a striking ornamental grass known for its tall, elegant stems and distinctive seed spikes that add texture and movement to the garden.

May require support in exposed sites to prevent lodging.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds indoors from March to April in trays or pots filled with fine compost. Lightly press the seeds into the soil surface and maintain a temperature of 18–22°C. Keep the compost moist but not waterlogged. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots and harden them off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

 

For direct outdoor sowing, scatter seeds in well-prepared soil from May to June. Lightly rake over and water gently. Thin seedlings to 30 cm apart once established.
