Indian Thornapple Seeds

Indian Thornapple (Datura metel), also known as Devil’s Trumpet, is a striking ornamental plant prized for its large, trumpet-shaped flowers and dramatic presence in the garden.

 

Its fragrant, funnel-like blooms, which unfurl in shades of white to purple, create a stunning contrast against the deep green foliage. The flowers bloom in the evening, releasing a sweet, intoxicating scent that attracts nocturnal pollinators such as moths.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds indoors from February to May in seed trays or pots filled with fine compost. Lightly cover seeds with compost and maintain a temperature of 20–25°C for optimal germination. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.

 

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots and gradually harden them off before planting outdoors after the last frost. Space plants 50–75 cm apart in a sunny, sheltered location.
