Cosmos Double Dutch White Seeds

A tall, elegant annual with frothy white double blooms and feathery foliage  perfect for cutting, borders, and cottage garden charm.

 

Cosmos Double Dutch White is a half-hardy annual bred for its large, ruffled white flowers with a hint of yellow at the centre. The blooms range from semi-double to fully double, creating a soft, cloud-like effect above fine, ferny foliage.

 

Reaching up to 120 cm, this variety adds height and lightness to borders, and its long stems make it ideal for cut flower arrangements.

 

Easy to grow and free-flowering, it thrives in full sun and poor to moderately fertile soil, attracting bees and butterflies throughout the summer.

Soil: Loam, chalk, or sandy; well-drained; neutral to slightly alkaline

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in trays or pots filled with moist compost. Cover lightly and maintain a temperature of 20–25°C. Germination typically takes 7–21 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots and grow on. Harden off and plant out after the last frost, spacing 30 cm apart in full sun.

 

Alternatively, sow directly outdoors from May to June. Water moderately and deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Pinch out growing tips at 15–20 cm to encourage bushiness.
