Helleborus Niger Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Also known as Christmas Rose as they flower from December these winter flowering perennials bring welcome colour to the garden over winter.

The mounds of dark green leathery foliage contrast well with the large delicate white flowers that stand on strong stems.

Grow in semi shade towards the front of a border or dappled shade under deciduous tree.

All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.

Sow between March - April the seeds need a long cold phase to germinate.

Place the seeds either on soil or compost covering lightly.

Moisten the substrate daily with a spray bottle.

Germination takes a long time usually till the following winter.

When the seedlings emerge separate and plant in pots to grow on or direct into their flowering position.

If they are to be grown in pots do not allow them to dry out but they do not tolerate water logging.
