These scented eye catching half hardy annuals have  beautiful clusters of very fragrant purple flowers known also as "cherry pie.

 

They attract plenty of butterflies to the garden and are perfect for growing in pots and containers or could be used to great effect in mixed borders providing excellent colourful displays all summer long.

Sow from February - April in a propagator or on a warm window sill onto sieved moist compost and press the seed down gently.

Transplant the seedlings when they are large enough to handle into trays spacing the plants 5cm apart or small pots to grow on.  

 

Harden off the young plants before planting out when all risk of frost has passed.
