Gourd Baby Boo Ornamental Seeds

Baby Boo is a delightful ornamental gourd variety producing miniature creamy white pumpkins that bring elegance and novelty to seasonal displays.

 

Each fruit is flattened and ribbed, typically 7–10 cm in diameter, with a firm skin and strong stem. Their ghostly white colour makes them especially popular for autumn and Halloween decorations, as well as for festive table arrangements.

 

The plants are vigorous annual vines, reaching up to 2–3 metres in spread, and are highly productive, often yielding 8–12 fruits per plant. Baby Boo gourds are long lasting when cured and stored properly, retaining their decorative appeal for months.

Sow April to May indoors, or May to June outdoors after frost

Germination 7 to 14 days at 18–22°C

Soil and Position Fertile, well?drained soil in full sun. Requires space for trailing vines or support for climbing

Harvest September to October. Pick when skins are firm and fruits fully white

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds 2 cm deep in pots of moist compost. Harden off and transplant once all risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in warm soil. Space plants 90–120 cm apart to allow for vigorous growth.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and mulch to conserve moisture. Feed with a balanced fertiliser once vines begin to run. Harvest fruits before frost, leaving a short stem attached. Cure in a warm dry place for 2–3 weeks before storing or using for decoration.
