Fennel Florence ORGANIC Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

 

This early maturing fennel has tall feathery foliage but unlike the herb fennel it is grown for its rounded wollen roots with a mild aniseed flavour.

Sow April - May

 

Sow into well raked prepared fertile soil between April - may.

 

The drills should be around 1cm deep and well watered, sow the seed thinly each drill should be around 40cm apart.

 

Thin out the seedlings to 25cm when they emerge usually between 7-21 days to grow on. Earth up the roots when the bulbs begin to swell to preserve the whiteness and flavour of the bulb keep the plants well watered in warm weather.

 

They do not like Root disturbance.
