Cosmos Seashells Red Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A bold annual with fluted, shell-like petals in rich shades of crimson and deep pink perfect for cutting gardens, pollinator borders, and vibrant summer displays.

Cosmos Seashells Red is a half-hardy annual featuring exquisite tubular petals that curl into trumpet-like flutes, creating a dramatic, textured effect. The blooms, deeper pink inside, rise above airy, fern like foliage and flower freely from midsummer to autumn.

This variety adds height and movement to borders, while its nectar rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in sunny beds, containers, and informal schemes.

Sow indoors from February to April in trays or modules, covering seeds lightly with 5 mm of compost. Maintain 15–20°C and keep moist until germination (7–14 days). Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, spacing 30–40 cm apart. Harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

Alternatively, direct sow outdoors in May once soil has warmed. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and harvest stems when buds are just opening for arrangements.
