A traditional and graceful annual wildflower producing tall stems with single pink to magenta blooms. Known botanically as Agrostemma githago Milas this organically grown strain is valued for its heritage charm and ecological benefits.

Sow March to May directly outdoors in prepared beds. Germination 14 to 21 days at 15–20°C. Soil and Position Light well drained soil; prefers full sun. Height 60–90 cm with upright stems and single pink flowers. Flowering June to August.

 

Sowing instructions

Prepare a fine seed bed in full sun. Sow seeds thinly in drills 1 cm deep and 25 cm apart. Thin seedlings to 20 cm spacing once established. Water well after sowing and keep soil evenly moist during dry spells. Corn Cockle Milas is best grown in naturalistic plantings.

 

Grow and maintenance

Grow in light soil with regular watering during dry periods. Corn Cockle Milas is hardy in summer conditions and thrives in sunny sites. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering or allow plants to self seed for naturalised displays.
