Comfrey Herb Seed - Irish Plants Direct
 
This popular perennial herb has large hairy leaves with pale purple blue bell shaped flowers during summer.
It's an extremely important plant to the organic gardener and is used as a mulch a compost activator or as liquid manure.
 
A fast growing plant that is rich in nutrients and is extremely useful in the garden cut the leaves to use as a compost activator or to make a liquid fertiliser by soaking the leaves in water for around four weeks then dilute at a rate of (15-1).
 
Alternatively use the leaves to mulch around plants, fruit bushes and vegetables. 
 
Sow March - June
Germination 7 - 21 days
Soil All soil types 
Harvest June - August 
Plant care Do not cut the leaves in the first year then cut to 50cm above ground level
 
Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh leaves
 
Sow thinly from March - June outside where they are to grow 1.5cm deep into finely raked well drained soil that has already been watered.
 
Thin the seedling to 30cm apart and keep well watered until the plants are established.

Good germination rate

I have had 9 seeds germinate so far and it's only been a month and comfrey is meant to be difficult to germinate
