Clary Blue Monday Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

A hardy annual with vivid blue bracts and aromatic foliage, perfect for borders, containers, and dried arrangements.

Clary Blue Monday is a striking cottage garden favourite, grown for its vivid, clearly veined blue bracts that surround tiny, nectar-rich flowers. These upright spires bloom from early summer to autumn, attracting bees and butterflies while adding bold vertical interest to beds and borders.

The aromatic green foliage adds a soft texture, and the bracts retain their colour well when dried, making them excellent for everlasting bouquets.

Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, this variety thrives in sunny spots and complements both formal and informal planting schemes.

Maintain a temperature of 18–21°C for germination, which typically takes 14–28 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into trays spaced 5 cm apart and grow on. Harden off and plant out after the last frost, spacing 25–30 cm apart in full sun.

Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. For dried use, cut stems just before peak bloom and hang upside down in a dry, airy place.
