Chilli Pepper Hot Pot is a tidy, ornamental variety bred for container growing and reliable yields. Its upright, glossy fruits ripen from green to red and offer a Scoville rating of around 30,000–50,000, delivering a moderate kick suitable for fresh use, drying, or cooking.

 

The plants form neat mounds with strong branching and continuous fruiting, making them ideal for patios, balconies, and small garden spaces. With a clean, spicy flavour and decorative appeal, Hot Pot is a favourite for beginner growers and culinary gardeners alike.

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in trays or pots filled with moist, free-draining compost. Cover lightly and maintain a temperature of 20–25°C. Germination typically takes 7–14 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots and grow on in a warm, bright location.

 

Harden off and plant out after the last frost into containers, greenhouse beds, or sheltered borders, spacing 30 cm apart. Water regularly and feed with a high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins. Harvest fruits when fully coloured and firm, typically from July to October.
