Carrot Nantes 2 Pilstar Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

 

This blunt ended carrot has bright orange cylindrical roots with a sweet and crunchy texture an early variety that can be harvested from early summer.

 

They can be grown in planters and troughs if space is limited.

 

Pellet seed is easy to see making sowing easier each pellet equals one seed.

The pellet contains nutrients to enable the seed to grow into strong plants.

They require no pricking out or thinning.

Keep the soil moist.

A handy tip thin the carrots i the eve after water to try and avoid the carrot root fly. 

 

Carrots need a firm fertile crumbling soil that has not been manure in the last year. Dig the ground in autumn and add a general fertiliser two weeks before sowing. 

Water well in dry weather to prevent splitting. Try to thin the carrots in the evening to avoid carrot fly. 

 

Sow from March onwards under cloches to harvest a crop from June onwards and successional sow through to July in open ground. The seed is extremely small but try to sow as thinly as possible in drills 1cm deep and in rows 15cm apart when the seedlings appear thin to around 5cm apart.
