Calendula Pacific Beauty Double Mix Seed – Irish Plants Direct

 

A tall and free flowering calendula mix producing large double blooms in shades of orange yellow apricot and cream. Known botanically as Calendula officinalis Pacific Beauty Double Mix this variety is valued for its long flowering season and vibrant colours. The robust plants are easy to grow and provide a continuous display of cheerful blooms throughout the summer.

Unlike dwarf calendula strains Pacific Beauty grows taller and is ideal for cutting as well as for borders and cottage gardens. Its nectar rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and pollinators.

 

Seed Qty Approx 1 gram 

 

Sow March to May directly outdoors or indoors for earlier blooms. Germination 7 to 14 days at 15–20°C. Soil and Position Fertile well drained soil; prefers full sun. Height Approx 45 to 60 cm; upright bushy habit. Flowering June to September; large double blooms in mixed warm shades.

 

Sowing instructions

 

Sow seeds directly outdoors from March to May in prepared soil. Scatter thinly in rows 30 cm apart and cover lightly with fine soil. Water gently and keep moist until seedlings establish. Thin to 25 cm spacing once large enough to handle. For earlier flowers sow indoors in trays from March and transplant after frost.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Grow in full sun in fertile well drained soil. Water regularly during dry spells and deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. Plants are hardy annuals and will often self sow for future displays. Suitable for borders cutting gardens and wildlife friendly plantings.
