Beetroot D'Egypte Seeds

Beetroot ‘D’Egypte’ (Beta vulgaris) is an early-maturing heirloom variety prized for its flattened, round roots with deep crimson flesh and a rich, earthy sweetness.

Sowing Instructions

 

For an early start, sow seeds in trays or modules from  March onwards. Plant each seed 1 cm deep in fine compost and keep at a temperature of 15–20°C. Transplant young seedlings outdoors after hardening off, spacing them adequately for proper root development.

 

Direct sow from March to July in well-prepared soil. Sow seeds 1 cm deep in rows spaced 30 cm apart. Water regularly, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Thin seedlings to their final spacing once they reach a few centimetres in height. Harvest when roots are around 5–8 cm in diameter for the best flavour and texture.
