Basil Greek ORGANIC Herb Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This aromatic annual herb is a compact variety with small green sweet tasting leaves and bears attractive white flowers during summer.

Grow as an annual in garden borders, containers on a sunny patio or year round on a sunny kitchen window sill.

Transplant in small bunches.

Seeds Qty 1.25 gram

Sow March - June

Germination 7 - 10 days

Loam or sandy soil that is acidic or neutral

Harvest June - October

Companion Plants Tomatoes, peppers, oregano

Do not plant with sage

Pick the leaves when required

A good source of vitamin A,C,E and K

Use in pasta dishes, sauces, soups and salads

Basil doesn't tolerate any cold so make sure all frosts have passed before planting out.

It has small white flowers from late summer pinch out the flower heads or trim the plant after flowering to encourage new leaf growth.

Sow between March - May in a seed tray of moist compost covering lightly.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots in small bunches to grow on.

Plant out when all risk is frost has passed.

Alternatively sow outside where they are to grow between May - June.
