Aster Polska Flag Seeds – Irish Plants Direct

 

A striking selection of Callistephus chinensis producing large double blooms in vivid red and pure white.

 

Aster Polska Flag is bred to echo the colours of the Polish flag, creating bold eye catching displays in borders containers and cutting gardens.

 

The strong contrasting shades make this mix particularly effective in late summer plantings when many gardens need a fresh burst of colour.

 

Plants form sturdy upright stems topped with full chrysanthemum like flowers that attract bees butterflies and beneficial insects.

 

The long lasting blooms are excellent for cutting and hold their colour beautifully in the vase. This variety thrives in sunny positions and performs reliably even in cooler summers.

Sow February to April indoors or direct from April

Germination 7 to 21 days at 15 to 20°C

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with a fine layer of soil or vermiculite. Maintain a temperature of 15 to 20°C in a propagator or covered tray. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after the last frost spacing 25 to 35 cm apart. For direct sowing scatter thinly over prepared soil once the ground has warmed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water regularly during dry spells and feed occasionally to support strong flowering. Remove spent blooms to prolong the display. Provide good air circulation to reduce the risk of mildew. Asters thrive in sunny borders cutting beds and late summer displays.
