Tulip Tree Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This large deciduous tree has irregular shaped four lobed green leaves that turn a lovely golden yellow colour during autumn.

A fast growing specimen tree for a large garden it has a conical shape when young then expands to a dome shape with maturity.

Part of the Magnolia family it bears magnificent looking green and yellow cup shaped flowers with orange spots during summer.

Germination time 4 - 12 weeks

Well drained acidic - neutral soil

Height 30 metres

Plant in sun

Pop the seed in the fridge for 2 days.

Sow the seed year round into pots if moist compost 1cm deep and place on a sunny window sill or in a propagator the temperature needs to be between 20°

Cover the pot with clear polythene to retain moisture.

Remove regularly so mould doesn't form.

When the plants are large enough to handle transplant into individual pots to grow on.
