Tomato Marmande Organic is a classic, richly flavoured beefsteak variety known for its large, ribbed fruits and traditional Mediterranean character.

 

Classified botanically as Solanum lycopersicum, this heritage style tomato produces meaty, aromatic fruits with a deep red colour and outstanding old fashioned taste.

 

Marmande is prized for its firm flesh, low water content, and excellent slicing quality, making it ideal for salads, bruschetta, sauces, and summer cooking.

 

The plants are vigorous and productive, setting fruit well even in cooler summers and offering a long harvest window from mid season onwards.

Sowing Instructions

 

Indoors:

Sow from February to April in small pots or trays filled with moist seed compost. Cover lightly with a fine layer of compost and maintain a temperature of 18–21°C. Keep the compost evenly moist until seedlings appear. Transplant into individual pots once large enough to handle and grow on in warm, bright conditions. Harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

 

Greenhouse or Polytunnel:

Plant into large containers, grow bags, or prepared beds. Provide support and remove side shoots regularly to encourage strong vertical growth and high yields. Water consistently and feed with a high potash fertiliser once the first truss sets fruit.
