Leave the seed heads over winter to feed the birds.

Sow between late April - May into a fine layer of raked warm moist soil 13mm deep where the plants are to grow.

Alternatively sow during March on a sunny window sill in pots.

Gradually harden off the plants before planting out after the risk of frost has passed.
