Strawberry Rugen Seed - Irish Plants Direct

This heirloom variety has intensely sweet tasting small bright red fruits.

An early compact plant with large white flowers that doesn't produce runners.

It is perfect for planting in pots and planters or window boxes.

A great favourite of children.

Sow March - May

Germination time 14 - 21 days

Loam or sandy soil that's acidic, neutral, or alkaline

Harvest June - October

Companion plants lettuce, onions, spinach

Do not plant with Tomatoes, potatoes peppers, or aubergine

Pick when the strawberries are red and ripe

A good source of vitamin c

Use for delicious deserts

Sow between March - May in a propagator or on a warm window sill onto sieved moist compost and press the seed down gently.

Transplant the seedlings when they are large enough into 7.5cm pots to grow on. Harden off before planting out when all risk of frost has passed 30cm apart.
