Starflower Scabious Seeds

Starflower Scabious produces soft cream flowers in summer, followed by papery, star shaped seed pods that are highly decorative and long lasting.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil or vermiculite. Maintain temperatures at 18 to 21°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination usually occurs within 2 to 3 weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 30 to 40 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed lightly with a balanced fertiliser to encourage abundant blooms. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong the display or allow seed heads to ripen for decorative use. Starflower Scabious thrives in sunny positions and is excellent for cutting gardens, borders, and dried arrangements.
