Sowing & Growing

When to Sow April to May indoors for transplanting outdoors after frost or directly outdoors in late May to June

Germination 7 to 14 days at 18–22°C

Soil & Position Fertile, well drained soil enriched with organic matter; prefers full sun

Height/Spread Trailing vines up to 2m with spreading growth

Harvesting September to October, cutting fruits when mature and skin hardens

 

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds individually in pots of moist fine compost. Lightly cover with compost and maintain warmth until seedlings emerge. Transplant outdoors after frost into prepared beds, spacing plants 90cm apart. For direct sowing, place seeds 2cm deep in soil once conditions are warm.
