Rudbeckia Double Golden Daisies Seeds

A bold and long flowering annual with fully double daisy shaped blooms in rich golden yellow.

 

Double Rudbeckia Golden Daisies produces large flower heads with layered petals and dark central cones held on sturdy upright stems above coarse green foliage. The blooms appear from midsummer to autumn and are highly attractive to bees butterflies and hoverflies.

 

This hardy annual thrives in full sun and well drained soil and is ideal for borders cutting gardens and wildlife schemes. It is drought tolerant once established and offers excellent vase life for fresh bouquets.

 

Also known as Gloriosa Daisy it brings warmth and structure to summer displays.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil or vermiculite. Maintain warmth at 18 to 22°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination usually occurs within 1 to 3 weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 30 to 45 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water regularly during dry spells and feed monthly with a balanced fertiliser. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Rudbeckia prefers full sun and tolerates light drought once established. Suitable for borders containers and wildlife gardens.
