Radish Kulata Cerna Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Radish Kulata Cerna is a unique black-skinned winter radish, prized for its crisp white flesh and robust, slightly spicy flavour.

This heirloom variety produces round to slightly oval roots with a striking black exterior, making it a standout addition to salads, stir-fries, and pickled dishes.

With a firm texture and excellent storage qualities, this radish is perfect for late season harvesting, often improving in flavour after a touch of frost.
It is also known for its digestive and medicinal properties, making it a popular choice in traditional cuisine.

A hardy and easy to grow variety, Kulata Cerna thrives in cooler conditions, ensuring a reliable crop when sown in late summer for autumn and winter harvesting.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds directly outdoors from June to September in well-prepared, fine soil. Sow 1 cm deep in rows spaced 20-30 cm apart, thinning seedlings to 10-15 cm apart once they develop true leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist for optimal root development.

For the best flavour and texture, harvest when roots are 6-10 cm in diameter. Radish Kulata Cerna stores well in cool, dark places, allowing for extended use through the winter months.

This striking black radish is a must-grow for those looking to add bold colour, sharp flavour, and traditional culinary appeal to their garden.
