A cottage garden favourite producing a beautiful mix of semi double and double flowers in unusual colours and shades on tall, graceful stems; ideal for sunny mixed borders, drifts, and meadow style plantings.

Sowing instructions

 

Direct sow into finely raked, warm, moist soil where plants are to flower, covering seeds about 5–6 mm deep. Thin seedlings to about 25 cm apart for sturdy growth and good airflow. Autumn sowings establish over winter for earlier blooms the following year.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Grow in well drained soil in full sun; water to establish then keep fairly dry to encourage flowering. Avoid over rich soils which can reduce bloom production. Cut back after flowering or allow some seedheads to mature to encourage self sowing.
