Sowing Instructions

 

Direct sow from October to November for an early crop the following year or from February to April for a summer harvest. Choose a sunny, well-drained site and sow seeds 3 cm deep, spacing them 5 cm apart in rows 45 cm apart. Protect autumn sowings with cloches or fleece in colder regions.

 

Water regularly, especially in dry spells, and mulch around plants to retain moisture. Support with pea sticks or low netting if needed. Harvest pods when they are full and firm for the sweetest flavour.
