Pasqueflower Violet Seeds

Pasqueflower Violet is one of the earliest spring flowers, often appearing around Easter, and is admired for its deep colour and soft, feathery foliage. Compact and hardy, it thrives in rock gardens, borders, and naturalised plantings.

 

As the flowers fade, decorative seed heads form, adding further interest through summer.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow indoors from February to June in trays of fine compost. Cover lightly and keep at 15 to 20°C until seedlings appear. Transplant when large enough to handle and grow on in cooler conditions. Harden off before planting out. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in prepared seed beds during spring or early summer.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Pasqueflowers prefer well-drained soil and sunny positions. Water sparingly, as they dislike heavy or waterlogged conditions. Once established, they are low maintenance and long lived. Deadhead faded blooms to encourage neat growth, and enjoy the ornamental seed heads that follow.
