Onion Mixed Seeds

Sow February to April indoors, or March to May outdoors in drills

Germination 10 to 14 days at 15–20°C

Soil and Position Fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Avoid freshly manured ground

Height/Spread Bulbs 6–10 cm across depending on variety

Harvest July to September. Lift when tops yellow and fall over, then cure before storing

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly in rows 1 cm deep, spacing 25–30 cm between rows. Thin seedlings to 10 cm apart for bulb onions. For early crops, sow under cover in modules and transplant once large enough to handle. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Weed regularly to reduce competition. Water during dry spells, especially in early growth. Stop watering once bulbs begin to swell. Harvest when foliage yellows and falls, then dry bulbs in sun or under cover for 2–3 weeks before storing in a cool dry place.
