A striking evergreen shrub, Nerium oleander produces clusters of showy funnel shaped flowers in shades of white, pink or soft rose depending on the seed line.

 

Known for its long flowering season and Mediterranean character, oleander brings an exotic feel to patios, warm sheltered borders and large containers.

 

Plants form dense upright growth with glossy lance shaped leaves and continuous flushes of blooms from early summer to autumn.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with a fine layer of vermiculite. Maintain a temperature of 20 to 25°C in a propagator or warm bright location. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Grow on in warm conditions and plant out after the last frost into containers or sheltered borders.

 

Grow and Maintenance

Water regularly during the growing season and feed every two weeks with a balanced fertiliser. Provide full sun for best flowering. Prune lightly in spring to shape and encourage branching. Overwinter indoors or in a frost free greenhouse. Note that all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.
