Night Phlox Midnight Candy Seeds

A delightful half hardy annual producing a profusion of small white flowers with maroon reverses that open in the evening to release a rich, sweet fragrance.

 

The blooms rise above neat lance shaped foliage, creating a carpet of scented colour that is especially captivating on warm summer nights.

Germination 7–14 days in warm, steady conditions.

Soil and Position Thrives in loam, chalk, or sandy soils; tolerant of acidic, alkaline, or neutral conditions. Prefers full sun in a sheltered, free?draining site.

Height Approx 30 cm; compact, bushy habit ideal for edging and containers.

Flowering July to September with abundant evening?scented blooms; deadheading prolongs flowering.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow thinly 5 mm deep into finely raked, moist soil from March to May, directly where they are to flower. Alternatively, sow under cover in trays or pots for earlier displays. Keep evenly moist until seedlings establish. Thin or transplant to 20–25 cm spacing for best effect.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Grow in full sun in free draining soil. Water regularly while establishing, then moderately thereafter. Avoid over fertilising, which can reduce flower production. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong the display. Position near patios, paths, or windows to enjoy the evening fragrance.
