Nasturtium Baby Orange Seeds

A compact, award winning nasturtium with petite bright orange single flowers above small dark green rounded leaves; perfect for edging, pots and containers where a neat, long flowering display is wanted.

 

Baby Orange combines strong early vigour with a tidy mounding habit that suits low borders, window boxes and mixed containers.

Sow March to May outdoors where they are to flower

Germination 7 to 10 days in warm soil; sow 1.5 to 2 cm deep and keep the soil evenly moist.

Soil Loam, chalk or sandy soil; tolerant of acidic, alkaline or neutral soils; prefers a sunny position with good drainage.

Height Approx 30 cm; compact, mounding habit ideal for small sites.

Flowering June to September with abundant summer blooms; deadhead to prolong flowering or allow some seed set to self seed.

Good Companions Beans; brassicas; squash; herbs and other edible garden plants.

Avoid Pairing With Very Shade Loving Plants that will be outcompeted for light.

 

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow directly into a prepared, weed free site April to June or sow into pots 3 or 4 seeds per pot and transplant after last frost. Thin to the strongest plant at each position and harden off indoor raised plants before planting out.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Keep soil evenly moist while establishing and water regularly in dry spells, avoid waterlogging. Grow in full sun for best flowering. Train or allow to trail from containers and deadhead regularly to maintain a tidy display. Use containers to restrict spread if you do not want volunteers.
