Musk Mallow Seeds- Irish Plants Direct

A graceful native perennial with soft rose-pink, saucer-shaped flowers and finely divided foliage. Musk Mallow blooms from July to September, releasing a faint musky scent in the evening and attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.

It thrives in dry, well-drained soils and naturalises beautifully in wildflower meadows, verges and cottage-style borders. Hardy and long lived, this species self-seeds gently and returns reliably each year, offering both ornamental charm and ecological value.

Sowing instructions

Sow thinly on the surface of moist compost—do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep in a cool, bright place and maintain moisture. For outdoor sowing, scatter in prepared soil and rake in lightly. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, spacing 30 cm apart.

Grow and maintenance

Grow in full sun in well drained soil. Water during dry spells and allow plants to self-seed naturally. Cut back spent flower stems to encourage basal growth. Hardy and low-maintenance once established.

Uses and benefits

Perfect for adding soft colour and pollinator support to naturalistic plantings. Musk Mallow offers a long flowering season, gentle fragrance and graceful form in low-input gardens.
