Sowing instructions

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist compost and press lightly without covering. Keep trays in a warm, bright position. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, spacing 30–40 cm apart. Alternatively sow directly outdoors in prepared beds after frost. Water well after sowing and maintain consistent moisture.

 

Grow and maintenance

Grow in moist, fertile soil with regular watering. Monarda prefers sunny or lightly shaded positions and benefits from mulching to retain soil moisture. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering. Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour.
