Melon Emir F1 RHS Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

This variety has a shorter growing season and a good tolerance to cooler weather.

The oval fruits have a grey green skin with bright orange delicious sweet flavoured flesh.

Grow in a greenhouse or tunnel or very sunny and sheltered area in the garden.

☀️ Germination 7 - 10 days

☀️ Loam or sandy soil thats acidic or neutral

☀️ Harvest July - October

Companion Plants Corn, peas, beets, radish, salad crops, leeks onions and nasturtiums

☀️ Cut the fruit with a knife when they are large enough

☀️ A good source of Vitamins C & Potassium

Simply eat fresh on their own or add to fruit salads

Apply a liquid fertaliser every two weeks after the first leaves have developed.

Sow indoors between February - April sowing 2 seeds in 7cm pots on their sides about 2.5cm deep place onto a window sill, warm greenhouse or propagator.

Pot on the strongest plants when the roots are visible at the bottom of the pots into 9cm pots and grow on.

Plant into large pots, grow bags or the ground when they are around 10cm tall. They will need support as they grow and tying in, pollinate by hand then remove the male flowers.

Pinch out when the stem reaches 60cm, select four of the strongest laterals and pinch out the growing tip after 3 leaves then pinch out the side breaks after 2 leaves.
