Meadow Cranesbill Seeds

A hardy native perennial producing large, saucer-shaped violet-blue flowers from June to September. Meadow Cranesbill is ideal for wildflower meadows, cottage borders and naturalistic planting schemes, thriving in full sun or partial shade.

 

Its deeply divided foliage and upright habit add texture and movement, while the blooms attract bumblebees, honey bees and solitary wasps.

Sowing instructions

 

Sow thinly on the surface of moist compost—do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep in a cool, bright place and maintain moisture. For outdoor sowing, scatter in prepared soil and rake in lightly. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, spacing 30 cm apart.

 

Grow and maintenance

 

Grow in full sun or partial shade in well drained soil. Water during dry spells and allow plants to self-seed naturally. Cut back spent flower stems to encourage basal growth. Hardy and low-maintenance once established.
