Mallow White Musk RHS Seeds - Irish Plants Direct

Malva moschata 'White Musk' is a stunning perennial known for its pure white, musk-scented flowers that bloom abundantly throughout the summer. With its elegant appearance and delicate fragrance, this variety is perfect for adding a touch of softness to any garden, especially in cottage or wildlife gardens.

The genus Malva is derived from the Latin word for "mallow," referring to the plant’s large, rounded leaves. Malva moschata specifically refers to the musk-scented variety, with 'White Musk' being particularly prized for its pristine white blooms and its aromatic, musky fragrance. The flowers are particularly attractive to pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, making it an ideal choice for a wildlife friendly garden.

Recognised by the RHS Seed Scheme, Malva moschata 'White Musk' is a hardy, easy-to-grow plant that thrives in a variety of conditions, making it a reliable addition to any garden. It is perfect for creating relaxed, natural-looking borders, wildflower meadows, or even cut-flower gardens.

This plant thrives in well-drained soil and full sun. It reaches a height of 90 - 120 cm and is ideal for adding vertical interest to borders or for creating a backdrop for lower-growing plants.

Sowing Instructions
Indoors: Sow seeds in trays or pots filled with moist, well-drained compost from February to April. Lightly press seeds into the surface, as they require light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 18-20°C. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle and harden off before planting outdoors after the last frost.

Outdoors: Sow directly into prepared soil from April to June. Scatter seeds thinly on the soil surface and gently press them down. Keep moist until germination occurs. Thin seedlings to a spacing of 30 - 40 cm to allow for healthy growth.

With its elegant white flowers, sweet fragrance, and ease of care, Malva White Musk is an ideal addition to any garden. Whether used in borders, meadows, or cut-flower gardens, this RHS-endorsed variety will bring beauty and fragrance to your outdoor space.
