Lettuce Lollo Rossa ORGANIC Seed - Irish Plants Direct

 

This easy to grow loose leaved lettuce has red tinged curly leaves with serrated edges and a delicious buttery taste. 

 

Use in mixed salads to add great colour, texture and taste.

Make successional sowings in fertile well drained soil in a sheltered sunny spot fortnightly to ensure a good supply of fresh lettuce throughout the year. 

Lettuce does not grow well in acidic soil.

Keep well watered during dry spells. 

 

Sow thinly indoors between February - March in seed trays when the plants are large enough to handle pot on to individual pots or a cell tray to grow on. Gradually harden off and transplant out in April spacing the plants 15cm apart.

 

Sow thinly outdoors between April - August in drills 1.5cm deep and 15cm between rows when the seedlings appear thin to 15cm apart.
