Jacobs Ladder White Seeds

A serene and elegant form of the classic Jacob’s Ladder, this white flowered variety produces airy clusters of bell shaped blooms in pure white, rising above soft, ferny foliage arranged like the rungs of a ladder.

 

Its gentle presence makes it ideal for lightening up shaded borders, woodland edges, and cottage-style plantings.

 

Hardy and long lived, this perennial thrives in moist, well drained soil and partial shade, though it will tolerate full sun in cooler climates. It attracts bees, hoverflies, and other beneficial insects, flowering from late spring into early summer.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow indoors from February to April. Surface-sow onto moist compost and press lightly do not cover. Keep at 15 to 20°C. For improved germination, stratify seeds in the fridge for 4 to 6 weeks before sowing. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle and harden off before planting out. Alternatively, sow outdoors in autumn for natural stratification.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water during dry spells in the first year. Once established, plants are hardy and low-maintenance. Deadhead to prolong flowering or allow to self-seed. Divide clumps every 3 to 4 years in spring. Suitable for informal borders and naturalistic schemes.
