Gypsophila Repens Rose Seeds – Irish Plants Direct

Gypsophila Repens Rose (Gypsophila repens L.) is a charming, low-growing perennial groundcover renowned for its delicate clouds of soft rose-pink flowers. Blooming abundantly from late spring through summer, it creates a carpet of dainty blossoms that bring lightness and elegance to rock gardens, borders, and containers.

Its trailing, mat-forming habit makes it especially suited for edging pathways, cascading over walls, or filling gaps between steppingstones. The fine, grey-green foliage provides a subtle backdrop, allowing the profusion of blooms to shine.

Not only ornamental, this hardy perennial is also drought tolerant once established, making it a low-maintenance favourite for cottage-style and alpine gardens.

Sowing Instructions

Indoors: Sow seeds from February to April in trays filled with fine seed compost. Press seeds lightly onto the surface without covering, as they need light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 18–21°C and keep the compost moist but not waterlogged. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into individual pots and grow on in cool, bright conditions.

Outdoors: Direct sow from May to June in a sunny, well-drained site. Scatter seeds thinly and lightly firm into the soil surface. Thin seedlings to allow adequate space for spreading growth.

Gypsophila Repens Rose is an elegant perennial ideal for softening hard landscaping, filling rockeries, or adding a romantic touch to summer displays. Its profusion of starry pink blooms makes it a timeless addition to any garden.
