Gaillardia Goblin forms neat mounds of grey green foliage topped with vibrant bicolour flowers from early summer to autumn. The blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies and bring warmth and movement to borders, gravel gardens, and wildlife-friendly schemes.

 

This drought tolerant variety thrives in full sun and well drained soil and is ideal for low maintenance planting, containers, and exposed sites. It performs well in both formal and informal designs and is suitable for pollinator gardens and dry borders.

Sowing Instructions

 

Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist well drained compost and lightly cover with fine soil or vermiculite. Maintain warmth at 18 to 22°C in a propagator or covered tray. Germination usually occurs within 2 to 3 weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out after last frost spacing 30 to 40 cm apart. For direct sowing wait until soil is warm and frost risk has passed.

 

Grow and Maintenance

 

Water sparingly once established and avoid overfeeding. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering. Gaillardia prefers full sun and tolerates drought and poor soils. Suitable for borders containers and wildlife schemes.
